club ESC

club ESC is Melbourne’s home of hybrid club trax and advanced dancefloor experiences. Since its first night in January 2014, ESC has quickly become a respected presence in Australia’s underground club community, showcasing emerging and forward-thinking ‘oblique club’ music – grime, ballroom, Jersey, footwork, hip-hop, and beyond – within an inclusive, PLURalistic boutique club setting.

At its core, club ESC (say “club escape” or “E, S, C”) is a bi-monthlyish club night. ESC reprograms the club night as an immersive, multisensory experience, with themed décor ($300 of fresh flowers for ESC #4: FULL BLOOM), artfully curated sights and sounds, and comprehensive in-house merch and visuals. The ESC umbrella further encompasses touring, graphics, video production, event promotion and merchandising operations.

Dedicated to creating a fun and safe space for ~dancefloor abandon~, ESC attracts a dedicated and diverse audience whose creativity and enthusiasm form a vital part of what makes the night so special.

In 2014, ESC has presented acts including Total Freedom, P. Morris and Strict Face. ESC has also supported the likes of Kingdom, Nguzunguzu, Virgil Abloh / Flat-White, James Ferraro, Mykki Blanco and Oscar Key Sung.

ESC is co-organised by residents Air Max ’97 (whose Progress and Memory EP was recently released on London label Liminal Sounds), Rap Simons and Aspartame.
